Can someone help me out here? - I’m tearing my hair out. I’ve been learning about Shotcut and I’ve run into a problem. I’ve got (I think) the latest version. On performing an ‘Undo’ command to fix a problem on a video track (one of three), a rogue blue track appeared above the rest that I simply can’t get rid of. I don’t want it there, and AI is utterly useless, sending me down dead-ends constantly. Does anyone know what this ‘track’ is and how to get rid of it? Thanks so much, Orlando
A lot of people mix up “clip” and “track.” You might be trying to remove the clip and failing to do so, but did you try to remove the row? Click on this extra clip/track. In the left column the timeline, the row should appear with a gold color background. That indicates it is the current track. Now, either right-click that or click the menu button on the timeline toolbar and choose Track Operations > Remove Track. If you still cannot do it, upload your project file here.
Hi, thanks for responding. No, it wasn’t a clip - it was a whole track - blue like the rest, but empty. In fact at one spot where I hovered over it, I could see a small ‘V3’ appear, which was the same name as my third track - but it sat above it. Nothing would shift it - and AI was full of well meaning but ultimately pointless suggestions. You couldn’t remove it like a normal track - I wondered if it might be a bug. I even installed it on a brand new laptop, and after a short while of editing, I hit ‘Undo’ on a clip and it just popped up uninvited. I’ve since shut down both machines, opened Shotcut, and the tracks have mysteriously disappeared - I have no doubt that, at some point, the track will randomly appear whilst I perform a function.
