Rich text rectangle disappearing

When I try to add some rich text over my video the rectangle box for this appears only fleetingly, say for a 8th of a second before disappearing again from the screen, so I am unable to add text. Is this a bug or is there something else I should know!!!

If you are adding the Rich Text filter to a clip, the playhead has to be over the clip or else the rectangle control will be hidden.
