Re cut video to remove a person

Hi All,

I am asking if there is a way to automatically re cut a video but have a selected person not included in tge final product.

I know you can get ai to erase a person, but that may not be ideal, re cutting the clips so the person is not there would be better.

Any ideas on how to automate this ?

Hi @greg

What do you mean by re cut ?

Remove or hide a specific person from the video, or delete footage that includes that person ?

Anyway, there is no automatic feature that does either of those things in Shotcut.

I mean re cut as in trim the clips in the video timeline so that person does not appear.

The erasure of the person would be the second option.

If no shotcut, anyone have any suggestions ? I saw some ai says it can do it, but not sure how well for a 40 min movie where the person pops into it here ir there.

I had an instance just the other day, was out with friends, filming all day, then at the end one of the ppl says make sure they are not in any video…geez, if they said that earlier, would have saved me a lot of work when I go to edit.

You can’t do that with Shotcut but you could blur the users face.

Use motion tracker on the users face
Add Mask Simple Shape
Add Gaussian Blur
Add Mask Apply
Apply Tracker to Mask Simple Shape

Make sure you don’t try to use the motion tracker for the full 40+mins of video, slice it into 5 min pieces or something. Anyway, it’s gonna be rough to correctly cover him correctly.

Sounds like I will just have to cut the clips further, then re do all into timeline.

I was really looking for a quicker solution as the video is not that important & I have plenty of other editing I have to do, and I am not an editing fan
