Problem with exporting, getting a textedit file?

What is your operating system?

What is your Shotcut version (see Help > About Shotcut)? Is it 32-bit?

Shotcut version 21.03.21

Can you repeat the problem? If so, what are the steps?
(Please be specific and use the names as seen in Shotcut, preferably English. Include a screenshot or screen recording if you can. Also, you can attach logs from either View > Application Log or right-click a job and choose View Log.)
So I try to export a .mov from the timeline and before the export job has processsed I get a Textedit file and when the job has finished, I still get nothing, just a textedit file, I am using OS Mojave.

What is the extension on this text file?
Is it “ProjectName .mlt” ?

I get this when I command I for info

So it is about the right size, but it isn’t a .mov, just a very long text file

According to your screenshot it appears that your file does not have an extension. Rename it to have the extension “.mov” at the end and see if that works.
