This didn’t happen before. I added an image to the playlist and a box popped up labeled “Set Duration”. The default is 5 seconds. I tried changing it to 30 minutes and dragged to the track but when I drag it to hit the beggining of the video it turns into 4 seconds? I can’t drag the sides to make it longer or faster when it’s 30 minutes, when it’s 4 seconds I can make it shorter. What’s going on and how to turn it off?
Also the track looks like this when I zoom in
I guess it was not detected as an image known by Shotcut or its build and it fell back to using FFmpeg to read it, which Shotcut perceives as a video.

I do not understand why your image has a waveform. Maybe it is not an “image” but a video. If you are not a native English speaker use your native language or a good translator.
If a video is not seekable, it is interpreted as a live source, and when you try to add it to the playlist, Shotcut asks for a duration. You should provide more details about your “image.”
I mean the time looks very cramped even when I zoom in maximum. And that only happened when I dragged the image into the track first, if i dragged the audio in first it didn’t happen.
