Problem reversing video in French version 25.10.31

Since the new version 25.10.31 on Windows 10, it’s impossible to create a reversed video. The software starts by converting the file, the conversion goes smoothly, but then it fails when trying to create the reversed version.

The log shows:

I thought it might be because of the path containing accented letters. So I changed the path and the name of the MLT file, but unfortunately, there’s still an error:

As you can see, the filename “inversé” is misspelled, but I can’t change that; the software names it automatically. So there’s definitely an error, probably with the French version.

I think it is due to the translation. @MusicalBox is it the same for you in French (Canada)?

As a workaround you can use a Time Remap filter to reverse a video. Simply drag the first keyframe all of the way up and the last keyframe to the bottom:

Yes, same problem.

Another workaround:
When Shotcut ask you to save the reversed video, it will propose something like this as a filename:
vidéo01 - Inversé.mp4
Just replace the accented characters with un-accented ones:
video01 - Inverse.mp4

Then SAVE. Both jobs should work now.

It works in French on Linux and macOS, and it is a regression in this version (25.08 works).

Something additional that might be helpful is that this function doesn’t allow you to rename the output file. The file is created automatically in the project folder, just as it doesn’t give you a choice in naming the proxy videos that are created.

This feature worked perfectly with the previous version I had (v. 250816).
To fix this function, I think simply renaming the output file without accents won’t be enough. The project path also needs to be taken into account. In that older version, I had no problems even if the path contained accents. So I reinstalled it to send you the log.

If you do not want files automatically created in your project folder then do not use New Project > Start:

Automatic placement of generated files–except Export–is the primary purpose of that feature, but it is not required. Simply start making a view and save the project. Nothing has changed here in years.
