Problem converting frame rate

Ubuntu-MATE 20.04

Shotcut version 24.01.28

/ Shotcut AppImage downloaded from shotcut.org > shotcut-linux-x86_64-240128.AppImage

I wanted to increase the frame rate > Properties > Convert > Advanced > Override frame rate, Frames/sec, and Frame rate conversion = Motion Compensation.

But it never stops and the percentage is over 201%, it’s 4 hours now…
Is it a bug?
I don’t know what to do

That’s probably about right. Let it keep grinding. The Motion Compensation is single threaded and, as a result, is very slow. I don’t think I ever fixed the progress percentage to account for the frame rate conversion. So it is probably some ratio of the input frame rate to the output frame rate. Maybe it will be done somewhere around 250% (30/12).

I would be interested to know how this frame rate conversion works out. I wonder how good the Motion Compensation can do for this situation.

Sorry, but we will never know I gave up at around 220%, but now that you explained the ratio about the percentage and single threaded processing, next time I’ll try, I’ll will wait knowing how long it could take and what could be the percentage to expect.

Thanks a lot for your answer, very valuable information.

I suggest you first try it on a 1 minute subclip, sometimes you won’t like the motion compensation fps conversion - depends on the video a lot.
