Preview audio different from exported audio

Trying to export a video and the preview audio is different than the exported video sound.

I recorded a video and stripped the audio out to process in Audacity. Added in an audio track and added the file back in. It needed a little gain but otherwise sounds good in the preview. When I export, however, it’s really “tinny” and there’s a lot more background noise than can be heard in the preview.

I’m confused as to why the preview and final aren’t the same.

I used the export defaults for mp4. Tried changing the audio bitrate but to no avail.

Any ideas?

What are you playing the exported media file with?

Windows Media Player.

Check your WMP EQ etc…

Perfect. Don’t remember ever changing this but it was all messed up.
