Order of Operations Help

I’m trying to figure out how to just make the red dot blink. I have been using the mask simple shape and the Alpha Strobe filter, but I’m struggling with the order of the filters.

I want to see if anyone has an answer.

Hi Ben
Seems to work well like this:

Track V1: Background content.
Track V2: Your "Phone Recording" png (I used the Spot remover filter to hide the red dot).
Track V3: A red color clip with Crop + Alpha Strobe filters.

Ah!!! Spot Remover!

I asked Grok Imagine to convert it to Lottie JSON. If you need to make it longer, simply extend its duration in Properties and drag the clip right edge. Shotcut automatically loops JSON/Glaxnimate animations.

recording-dot.json (26.3 KB)

Thanks! I will try this!

Hi, I’m sorry, I’m a noob : where do I save this JSON on my disk and how do I use it on Shotcut ?

Thanks :folded_hands:

It works like any other image or video file. Save it to Videos folder, and add it to a timeline track that is above your main video.

In Shotcut, filters are processed from top to bottom. To restrict the Alpha Strobe filter to just the red dot on a single clip, use this order: first Mask: Simple Shape (positioned over the red dot), then Alpha Strobe, and finally Mask: Apply. The Mask: Apply filter at the end is required to composite the alpha change back onto the clip so only the masked area blinks.
