Hi Eloy:
You can attach a screenshot of the project to know exactly what you want to achieve.
From there we can move forward.
Greetings.

A ver si es algo así:
Let’s see if it’s something like that:

I create a new track (in the example V4)
I select the clips I want to move (shift key and left mouse)
I move the selected clips to the V4 track
I already have the V1 track free to reorganize the clips.
I hope this will help you.
Note: I finally captured the GIF with other software and the result is better.

Buena suerte.

Good luck

Just curious @ejmillan what software did you use ?

On Windows 10 I use ShareX software

I use the function : Screen Capture-Recording (GIF)

An additional configuration must be made to the default installation. This consists of indicating the location of ffmpeg (if it is not there, a download menu will open) and installing the virtual image and audio capture devices.
The GIF screenshot works by taking a video capture and then encrypting it to GIF. The default settings of the capture I do not modify them because the result is good and the file size is not large. It is a GIF at 15fps, ideal for embedding in a forum.

In Linux Ubuntu Studio, I tried to do the capture with VokoScreen, however in some areas of Shotcut it seems to be blocked. So I tried with OBS and then I used an online MKV to GIF converter.
But the result was not very good.

Thank you very much @ejmillan I’ll check it out.
