no video only audio

Hi I used shotcut a long time ago and was impressed. This time however I can only get the audio without the video. This was from an old version so I uninstalled it thinking that a fresh download would do the trick but the same thing happened. I searched the forum and the hardware encoder was mentioned. Haven’t got a clue what that is so as you may gather I’m not really savvy with computers so simple instructions please. Thanks for looking or answering.

For the assumption that you get audio without video after the export the disabling of the hardware encoder is done like this:

Make sure you also have parallel processing disabled.

If you do not see the video in the preview before export, you may need to change the display method.
This can be found in the menu -Preferences-Display Method (there are several options: automatic-OpenGL-DirectX(Angle)-Software(MESA)

Display Method

This setting is only available on Windows and Linux. Shotcut uses OpenGL technology to draw its user interface and display video.
