After finishing the editing process I would like to start a voice over. I follow all the instructions, but in the end the microphone symbol which is mentioned in all user guidelines doesn´t appear. Any hints why or rather what I can do instead? Thank you all.

Thank you, maybe. So if nobody can help I will work around the system: My idea is now to record the voice over on the mobile, transfer it to Shotcut and insert it into a new audio file. This will hopefully work until I get a newer version.
All operating systems have an audio recording feature; maybe look there. You can use a phone, of course, but then you need to figure out how to transfer the file.
