Muting clips isn't working?

I apologize if this has been asked before, but the only thread I found on this topic was from three years ago. I am just trying to mute a specific clip in a project I’m working on, but nothing seems to work - I have the filters open and mute selected, and I’ve also tried detaching the audio from the clip and changing the track setting to “none” under the audio tab in properties, but it’s still not muted (though strangely selecting no track under the video tab does indeed hide the clip).I’ve also tried moving the playhead around because I read that that can affect the filters but no dice. Does anyone know a workaround for this or have any idea why it might be happening? Did I somehow miss a step? I am using the latest version of Shotcut with Windows 10. Thanks in advance

Select the clip. Add the mute filter to it.

As I said, I’ve already tried that. The audio is still there.

There are 4 ways, that I know if, to mute the audio of a clip.

  1. In properties set audio to none. This can only b done to a clip on the timeline.
  2. Apply the mute filter to the clip. Timeline or to the clip in the source viewer.
  3. Apply the Gain filter and set it to -50 Db. Pull the slider all the way left.
  4. Detach the audio, clip has to be on timeline, and delete the audio. If you select the clip and reset in the properties tab the audio will come back.

If none of these methods work then post your clip so someone can maybe figure out why it’s not working for you.

Nevermind I figured it out. I guess detaching audio moved it to another audio track that I couldn’t see in the timeline because I wasn’t scrolled down far enough, lol. Thanks for responding anyway though
