Masking in Glaxnimate not working

Hello, I don’t know how masks in Glaxnimate work because I can’t find a tutorial. I made a square shape and converted it to a mask but whatever I do, it does nothing. Can anyone help please?

Hi @Toasty

These are the steps used to add Glaxnimate mask to a clip.

In the Timeline, select the clip that will receive the mask.

Go to the Filters panel and add a Mask: Draw (Glaxnimate) filter.

Click on the New button.

Give a name to your mask file, choose Save location and click Save.

In Glaxnimate, draw the shape of your mask, then go to File > Save

Go back to Shotcut. If the mask is not applied to your clip, click the Reload button.

By the way, you must have something on the track below the masked clip. It can be a video, an image or a color clip. Otherwize the mask won’t work.

Nope, I am talking about masks in Glaxnimate in general, I am trying to use Glaxnimate’s mask for an animation in kdenlive and this is the only forum for Glaxnimate I could find.

I’m not very familiar with Kdenlive but from what I see, Glaxnimate is only used to add animations into a project. In Shotcut, as I mentioned before, there is a filter that uses Glaxnimate to create masks. Kdenlive doesn’t seem to have that feature.

Maybe you could ask for help on the Kdenlive forum.

To be more specific, I made a sprite in Krita and rigged in Glaxnimate, I was experimenting around with Glaxnimate’s masks, just wanted to know if I could hide a part of the rig without using multiple layers. Thanks for the help though, I consider this solved unless you have a solution

Unlikely, but the manual might help.

I know you marked this solved, however, in case you or anyone else has questions or issues they have a good telegram chat with multiple contributors, so I would ask there. You will more than likely get an answer.
