I’ve been using a very old version of shotcut on an old Mac with an old OS that meant I couldn’t update shotcut. Just got a new Ubuntu machine, and installed the latest version of shotcut that is available via Debian/Ubuntu, which is 24.04 if I’m remembering correctly.
The “mask simple shape” has changed considerably - and I like the change. The squirrely bar sliders are gone for everything but rotation degrees - replaced with numbers controlled by up/down arrows. I LOVE this - although I’d suggest adding the same functionality to rotation as well, but that’s not my main issue…
A “grab-able box” has been added to change size and position of the mask. Two problems: 1) Rotation doesn’t appear to be part of it, but far more importantly, 2) If I’m masking something small, the box just gets in the way. I can’t see what I’m doing. In addition, the box doesn’t rotate with the mask, so now I have a rotated mask that I really can’t see because the box obscures pretty much everything as the mask is very small.
What to do? Is there a way to turn off the box or otherwise alter its appearance so I can see what I’m doing? Is the situation better in the latest version 25? Or am I going to have to downgrade in order to see what I’m doing? I think the box is a good idea, but its not working for my situation…
Please advise…
