I am using a Dell Inspiron 15 laptop with Windows 11. I am using the latest version of Shotcut, but this happened in the previous version as well. When bringing in a clip into my timeline, it loses most of its audio. Using the Gain filter helps a little, but not enough. A screenshot of my work is attached.

Just in case you didn’t think of checking:
Left-click the Volume button in the Player toolbar.
By default the volume level should be at around -15 dB.
