Low frame rate editing

I’ve been forced to use my older camera (new one broke) and the video resolution is
(h264 1920x1080 29.97fps) maximum on this older camera.

When I’m editing the video and I use the fast forward button, the player jerks forward instead of scrolling ahead smoothly.
I’m using version 23.12.15.

Is there any way around this? It’s not a major problem but it is an annoyance.

If the filename from the camera ends in .MTS or .TS or .M2TS or similar, then performance would likely improve by using the Convert to Edit-Friendly tool. Those containers typically do not parse or seek well in FFmpeg/Shotcut.
