Laggy playback on a great computer

hope your well everyone! for some reason shotcut is really laggy and the playback is very low framerate, even though I have an amazing computer with a top-of-the-line graphics card, does anyone know what might cause this and how I might fix it? its to the point that i cant use the software

thats some record time response, thanks! ill let you know if this works!

ok that didnt work, the software and the video is still laggy in adition to the quality being worstened

Things that may result in a bad experience include:

  • Mismatched Video Mode fps to source video fps
  • Variable frame rate video
  • Anti-Virus programs
  • CPU cooling
  • CPU speed
  • Lack of memory
  • Slow data drive (HDD - Hard disk drive)

The more information you can provide, the better we can help you.

When using proxy and preview scaling, the quality will be lower in the preview, but will be full quality in the export.

Other options to try:

  • Different options for Settings->Display Method
  • Try Settings->Realtime (Frame dropping)
  • Try to convert your sources to an edit friendly format by clicking the “Convert” button in the Properties panel
