I don’t know if it’s a bug or normal operation. So a little video. The sound level is quite low but should be sufficient.

I delete the sound track from a small video, perform an In/Out Point for the part that interests me, copy the clip into the playlist, and double-click on the clip, the sound is present in this last ?

In the order of your steps, you will get sound every time.
So for your question is this normal, yes. Not a bug.

  • Timeline actions do not change the Source.
  • Changes to Source before going to the timeline will carry over to the timeline.
