Intense memory usage with not too hefty project

What is your operating system?
Windows 11 Insider Preview build 25136 x64

What is your Shotcut version (see Help > About Shotcut)? Is it 32-bit?
21.06.23 x64

Can you repeat the problem? If so, what are the steps?
(Please be specific and use the names as seen in Shotcut, preferably English. Include a screenshot or screen recording if you can. Also, you can attach logs from either View > Application Log or right-click a job and choose View Log.)

Whenever I open up a project file, it seems to use a very large amount of memory even when editing (my system has 16GB for reference). I open a not too hefty project that I have and it uses 10GB of my memory even when idle. Is this a memory leak or some weird feature?

Is it the same in a previous version? There are many factors. It can be normal to require that much depending on the resolution and the number of tracks and clips.

I loaded the same moderately complex (5 tracks) 1080p project without proxy and preview scaling into versions 22.04 and 22.06 at the same time. I played them both to the end to exercise their full timeline of effects. Then, compared

They are roughly the same. Memory usage is not necessarily a bug.
