Im new at Exporting /saving new video ???

google says there is a way to save as a direct stream copy if we only trim the video ?? so in this example - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsZNtFbapyI%20%20%20--- , at frame 1m:02 secs - why does that small window show after pressing Export - “Export” , “Stream” , “Reset”, while on my One ready to exported & save - Only gives Option - “Export” , “Reset” , “Advanced” - I want the Option for “Stream” But it Aint comin up - is this Because U are using a different version of Shotcut ???

That’s a 9 year old video, I don’t know what that option meant, but today the only way to save without exporting is in the specific case of extracting one section of one video. Select the clip that’s already trimmed then click the 3 lines menu in Properties panel and select Extract subclip.

If you have more than one section you need to use the Export option which will take some time but will actually do a full video from everything you have on timeline.

thanks, its a Pity we cant also save - in Direct stream if we were just adding an Audio to a video.

That button was about network streaming like OBS Studio and IPTV.

From what I remember it there were discussions before about allowing direct stream copy and merge without export but it was decided that it’s such a limited and error prone feature that it was not worth it.
One major issue is that you can only safely start and end a stream on an I-frame so you either have many seconds of unwanted stream or you have errors in the resulting file.

I personally tried a few years ago a tool that claimed to properly merge videos on keyframes but I still had 2-3 seconds of freeze frames in the final video at every single join point.

I can name 2 old tools that I have previously used to edit-merge- add audio while saving in direct stream - it was “video to video” and “ virtualub” !! …
