Hi Brian,
I may be in the wrong area here to mention the HSL Primaries filter but could we possibly extend on it. I’m not sure if adding a black or grey would help but is there any way that shadows can be lifted in a similar manner as to how the primaries work. Bightness and other filters lift the entire scene whereas the primaries allows us to target specific colours, I was just wondering if we could have something that could possibly lift shadows?
Are you needing more levels of control than the tone sliders in the Color Grading filter provide?
Thanks for the reply Austin. Colour Grading is indeed the correct place to lift the shadows. When adjusting there, I find it applies to the entire scene rather than explicitly to the shadows themselves. I guess that’s why I mentioned the primaries as it seems to offer more granularity when it comes to the colours (the Overlap helps too).
You can use gamma in the same filter to compensate. You can also try the Levels filter (similar). Look at the Video Waveform scope while doing this to help you visualize how these 2 parameters affect and interact.
Ok, I’ll experiment with those, thanks.
