How to slide 12 paragraphs of text from right to left in shotcut

By now I have seen tutorials of how to slide short sentences in shotcut, but I need to slide 12 paragraphs of 4 sentences each from right to left, in a timeline of 3 +/- minutes and…I have enourmous doubts on how to do it so.
I would be highly appreciated for the right and appropriate response to the question.

Hi @strongtower1

  • Create one text clip (transparent background) for your first 4-line paragraph, and add it to the Timeline.
  • Use keyframes to make the paragraph appear from the right, pause in the center, then exit to the left.
  • Copy/Append the clip as many times as you need.
  • Edit the text in each clip.

The first paragraph will slide IN and OUT, then the second paragraph will slide IN OUT and so on.

Demo in the video below.
You will also find an additional method showing how to make one paragraph slide IN while the previous one slides OUT.

I followed your instructions, I’m highly appreciated for your response. Happened that followed your instructions step by step and… when opened the transparent color to place the text? it opened! then left click and dragged to second track but when went to left click filters> left click plus icon> left click text rich? opened the text rich on preview screen but in a snap of second it dissapeared :flushed:, went to history clicked on filters action, clicked on filters simple text the box showed up on preview screen, went to type text in the text box in play list but when pasted the text?nothing. inmediately deleted the transparent track in timeline. went to timeline options>track operations> insert track and started over but the same bug. shotcut don’t open the text rich filter and if it opens? through simple text don’t let me paste any text, plus if I switch to other track to see the time to insert the text, but when comeback to transparent color track? the text box don’t show up in preview screen…plus when using keyframes as in the video you provided shotcut don’t let me stretch or shrink the preview screen to view the keyframe button right side of position after undo button, this is the first time in my life that shotcut isn’t working as it should after 2 years of using it…and I’m feeling as you think …I’m exausted don’t know what to do with shotcut, and I’ve spent lot of hours learning how to use as for… looking for something else, I feel pushed to look for a solution because I feel attatched to it .Also tried to uninstall it for a clean installation, following that route> control panel>programs> softwares and characteristics> shotcut>uninstall but when install it back the same interface and that after that I reviewed program files I don’t know what to do to avoid that bug.
I feel deeply appreciated for your consideration about the horizontal scroll text tutorial you provided. and if you could give me a solution? it will be thankfuly received .

Hi @strongtower1

I’m sorry, but there are a lot of parts I don’t clearly understand in your explanation.

From what I could understand, you are using the Text: Rich filter. What do you mean by simple text?

Text box in play list? What do you mean by that?

Not sure I get what you mean here either.

I suppose you mean this button: shotcut_F5mSnwXKFS and that you are not able to see it because you can’t increase the width of the area where the filters panel is docked.
shotcut_OfKoo8DqPp

This could be a bug (or something else) and you should report it as a separate topic in the Bugs category.

Anyways, if you can, try to make a screen recording of all your steps and post the video here. That will help us understand your issues.

Hi Thank you for your response, that action of the video is what shotcut don’t let me do, to see the keyframes buttons that your action in video revealed (also thank you for tell me the name of the “filters panel”, as I ignored the name I called it as I said, and that between the other things that shotcut also don’t let me do. Like as I said, after have openned the filter " text rich" went to copy the text and when came back left click inside the “text rich” box and pasted (first used “ctrl+V” and then right click to open options) but nothing, so I had to type the text with keyboard. but when went to filters again after I openned another transparency and left it in the timeline track , and left click in filter “text rich” it openned by 1 milisecond and vanished, I’m going to find a screen recorder right away, and will share here. pretty thankful for your responses they have been pretty specific and accurate to the point I am exposing.

The Text: Rich filter can be tricky. Sometimes you paste text in it and the text size will be very small (9) and it’s displayed in white. So if the background is very pale, chances are you won’t see the pasted text.

After you’ve pasted your text, go to Menu > Select All, then increase the text size and eventually the text color.

Hi , yes I forgot to say that I gave a left click in between the text I manually typed, and typed “Ctrl+A” to select all. and did the same action as you portrayed in the video, also did the augmentation of the text size in the box above, and changed the color to white (because by default it’s black), but after made all and left it prepared ( so I could create the two text box filters to sincronize them with the keyframes in the timeline of the master video) to create another transparency, when left clicked in “text rich” as you did in the video?, the box showed up just 1 milisecond and dissapeared. :flushed: I was speechless. but in short of this day I will share the video with the circumstance I’m depicting you.
