I have a five minute video. but it shows as being one hour +. I have looked through the timeline for clips that somehow were inserted between those points. I found a few and deleted them all but still the length shows as 1:11. So when I export it takes a very long time to create the video. How do I identify the endpoint so that the export is for only the five minute length?
Pressing the End key on your keyboard will move the playhead to the very end of the timeline.
If the residual clips only have a 1 or 2 frames duration, zoom the timeline to its maximum to make sure you can see them.
If you are using a laptop that doesn’t have a dedicated End key, according to ChatGPT, you can usually use one of the following alternatives:
-
Function Key Combination (Fn + Arrow Key)
Many laptops use a function key (usually labeledFn
) combined with an arrow key to perform “End” and other functions:
Fn + Right Arrow often acts as “End” on many laptops. -
Shift + Fn + Arrow Key
Some laptops, especially compact or non-standard keyboards, may require
Shift + Fn + Right Arrow instead.
If these don’t work, you can use the Skip to the next point button of Shotcut’s player:
Use that button until you find all the residual clips.
Thanks for the reply. Keyboard solutions do not work (It’s a Spanish keyboard in a US layout) so I used skip. I found one small point just a few minutes along from my hoped for end point at around 5 min The next stop was at 1hr 12 min. Shouldn’t it refuse to go further than the 5 minute point? On the player it is still showing 1hr 12 min. I started the export and it still seems to be taking quite a long time.
Hello. Fn does work, actually. There was an itty bit frame at the very end. Removed it and problem solved!
thanks
