How to convert interlaced to progressive

Hi everyone.
Sorry, I don’t speak English, I use a translator.

Windows 10/11 (2 different laptops).
Shotcut 24.06.26.

I’ve been using Shotcut since 2017, first time with interlaced video.
I’m confused, please help me.

I have an .TS interlaced video.
It’s a TV recording from my PVR.

000.ts.MediaInfo.txt (3.5 KB)

I want to convert it to .mp4 progressive.
In the Properties/Convert to Edit-friendly window I choose “Good”.
What should I select in the Properties/Convert to Edit-friendly/Advanced window ?

I did 3 tests…

Test 1
I selected “Deinterlace”.
I got a 50 fps file.

Test 2
I selected “Deinterlace”.
I selected “Override frame rate”.
I choose “Frames/sec 25.000000”.
I got a 25 fps file.

Test 3
I selected “Deinterlace”.
I selected “Override frame rate”.
I choose “Frames/sec 50.000000”.
I got a 50 fps file.

I’m confused, What is the best work flow ?

It depends on the project’s overall frame rate (video mode).

To preserve motion the best, deinterlacing to 50fps is best.

But if the timeline is 25fps, then adding a 50fps deinterlaced file means that half the frames will be dropped to match the 25fps timeline. Dropping frames will look more jittery than deinterlacing to 25fps from the start with bwdif.

Thanks for the reply.
So if I understand correctly, I will have to set the video mode to 50 fps
And I will have to import the file obtained from test 1.
In the next few days I will do some tests.
Thank you

If all the other video sources are 25fps, it may be worth sacrificing this one clip for all the others. But if most clips are 50fps, then a 50fps Video Mode makes sense.

Fortunately, it is a very simple project, only a video source.
I stole a little time on my sleep to do some tests,
But in the end I reached my goal.
Everything works very well, and your information will need me in the future.
Thank you so much for helping me.
