How to change file type

So I recently downloaded shotcut and I have been loving the program but I have a question. I normally save my videos as MP4 but this defaults to MLT XML. Is there a way to change it to MP4. I appreciate any help.

You need to ‘Export’, not save.

Thanks! Also I don’t see MP4 on the options. I’m assuming it is not added in yet?

In the Export panel click the ‘Format’ button and choose MP4.

Sorry to bother you more, but whenever I make it into a MP4 and try to watch it, it says the file is corrupt and qmelt.exe starts to make my cpu usage go really high until I close out of it. Is there any way to fix t?

Try a media player like VLC to watch your video

I exported it and its still mlt
