How Not to Fall, Get Runover, Drown, or Vanish in Colorado Springs

Just another family vacation video that most likely only we will find interesting.

I’m afraid and sad to think that this may be of the last as our kids have gotten older. We all still want to go each year but it becomes harder and harder to find the available time. I’m just happy that I collected the footage and used Shotcut to help remember these incredible times and for sharing with friends and family who ask about the trip.

This one is mostly of our whitewater rafting on the Arkansas River below the Royal Gorge Bridge in the narrows of the canyon. The trip was focused around it and it did not disappoint! I’m shocked at how well the camera did as I thought it would be jumpy, blurry, off-scene with little to use. Only unfortunate that the position and angle made the rapids seem a lot milder than what they were. Either way, it has become the best time we’ve ever had on one of our excursions.

I struggled on the making of this one. The laptop I used started off fine but got bogged down after applying layers, music, etc., even with proxy. Not Shotcut’s fault but my poor hardware. Was tricky determining how the final product would turn out during export.

I don’t know why, but I also struggled with determining the sound levels and integration which hasn’t happened before. Used the same headphones and meters as prior but it might just get to being my age. Either way, it seemed to come out alright.

I used solutions suggested by others in another one of my threads in making the Rich Text stand out more. Instead of outlining though, I used the drop shadow default settings and liked how it displayed so I appreciate the assistance.

Family viewed it together and there was a lot of laughter and joy, so the work was well worth it.

The days are so long, but the years are so short :smiling_face_with_tear:

Thank you for sharing. It is stories like these that keep me interested in developing Shotcut. I hope you rediscover this video many years from now and it brings you joy.
