How do I realign broken Audio to my Video?

I record my online gaming instead of live streaming so I can edit out distractions and misdirection’s to keep the video to a suitable length for YouTube.

In the video I’m editing, I have character and NPC conversation that has jumped to each another and keeps looping like a stuck record for about 20 seconds.

I’ve had this before in other gaming sessions but those where usually at the start or end and easily rerecorded. This one is bang in the middle of the recording, about an hour into game play.

Is there a suitable fixer in Shotcut which will sort this for me?

Many thanks

I am unsure what the cause of the looping is. If you play the recorded file in a media player (like Windows Media Player or VLC), does it happen? If so, I’m afraid it can’t be fixed.

Seems like it could be a problem seeking and a video editor has stronger requirements for seeking than a media player. You should try to convert any problematic file using Properties > Convert.

Thank you for getting back to me.

Thank you for getting back to me and apologies for the delay in this reply.

I use nVidia GTX to record my game play, from there I drop the recordings straight into Shotcut for chopping and joining.

From watching some of the instruction video’s recently, I’m managing to edit better though I’m still a computer noob.

Many thanks for a great editing tool btw. If only those other recording software was as straight forward to use as your editing tool.

@Kernow-Hill Does the error occur when you play your recording in your standard media player?

That does not really matter. Read my reply. Screen/game recordings use variable frame rate, which is not editing friendly. It needs to be converted if you run into a problem.

Hi Florianinside

Apologies for late reply. It’s taken me a while to get my head around the software suggestions.

If I record in Windows Media Player. it records very grainy and no sound.

In VLC, I’m not sure because every time I open a recording made in VLC, it’s an empty folder with only the generic title.

So I’m stuck with nVidia, I’ve tried OBS but that’s like rocket science so I stay well clear of that to stop my blood presure boiling over.

Sorry for sounding like the newb I am, if only it was as straight forward as a nut & bolt engine rebuild.

Many thanks
