Glaxnimate mask - no preview if used on track?

I’m trying to create a mask with Glaxnimate but I noticed if the filter is on the entire video track there is no preview of the video in Glaxnimate. If I use the filter directly on a clip I can see the video as a background.
Is this a bug or intentional? Do i need to check an option somwhere? I’d expect at least a static image in this case if it doesn’t know what video to pass to the app.

It is not intentional but rather an afterthought and limitation. I will see if I can get it to work as a track filter but no promises.
