I posted about this in the Made By Shotcut forum but it kind of got derailed by how you post Youtube links and I didn’t get any replies. Specifically, I’m having trouble getting smooth starts and ends on some of my zoom transitions even though I set the keyframes to “smooth”. Here is the video in question and the long zoom/pan starts at about 4:30:
Ideally, I’d like to get it completely smooth but sometimes I can’t quite get there. Is this an issue of needing more keyframes? I’m still new to Shotcut and I’m learning as I go.
Ah, I see. Because I’m doing these on a machine with Windows 7 I don’t have all those options. However, I could move the project over to my linux box with an up-to-date OS and edit them, I think.
In the absence of Easing function, you can try to use the smooth or linear keyframes to approximate an easing curve such as cubic by adding more 1 or 2 more keyframes near the start or end of the animation and adjust accordingly.
Now, if you are using a parameter that does not support curves in the Keyframes panel, you can practice on one that does and then simply re-apply technique. Use the Add Keyframe button or ; to Toggle Keyframe At Playhead.
The further you move the second keyframe from the first, the slower it accelerates. The more distance you put between the third and last keyframes, the slower it decelerates.
