Files panel > Open With > Remove

Maybe a dumb question but…
What’s the use of the “Remove…” option in Files panel > Open With

If I choose Remove… this dialog box opens but it is always empty:

Also, the title of the dialog box says “Remove From Open Other
Is it related to Open Other… in Shotcut’s File menu?
I don’t imagine it is, so it is a little confusing.

Shouldn’t the title be: “Remove From Open With > Other…” or something?

It is to remove something you have added, but you have not added anything for that filename extension. You need to choose Other to add something.

Maybe the title is a little confusing, but this is another case of Open Other. However, it has a very different context. Don’t overthink it. Obviously, it is for this sub-menu.

I am not going to relabel it. Strings are frozen for translation, and this does not rise to the level of necessity. It is not a big deal that it is empty and nothing to remove. But when you have added an application to the Open With menu that is no longer valid, you will not regret this dialog.

I changed the dialog title to “Remove From Open With” for the version after the next.

Ok, tried it and I understand its intended purpose now.

But I noticed this:
Suppose I right-click an MP4 file, choose Open With > Other… and select the Windows Media Player executable.

When right-clicking another MP4 and choosing Open With, wmplayer will show in the list of options.

However, it won’t show when going to Files panel Menu > Open With…

OK, I will look into it. It is primarily for the context menu. I will probably remove it from the menu button.
