I realized the newer versions of shotcut doesn’t allow you to export videos as wav or wma or other audio files. There seems to be only 1 option - MP4.
I switched it to all files, and added a .wav extension to the file name and managed to turn them into .wav files to edit using my audio software, but then it actually comes out as a video if I open it using windows explorer. Exporting it this way is also time consuming. Back in the older version it only takes a few seconds to export a video as a .wav audio but now it takes a few minutes. Also even after removing the video, export time is equally slow. I tried removing the video and just exporting the audio into a .wav file and it still hasn’t completed exporting after 3 minutes, but after reinstalling the older version, the same video got converted into a .wav within 13 seconds.
Any idea how to export it as a .wav without having to manually remove the video? I don’t understand why shotcut would fix a feature which wasn’t broken and make things worse.
Surprisingly it doesn’t exist in the latest version, or at least for me. Clicking export will bring me the save video pop up window immediately. I had to downgrade a version to get the window you showed.
Yes, it does. There is a difference between File > Export > Video and View > Export in newer versions. All you have to do is:
click Export on the main toolbar
click the WAV export preset in the Export panel that #1 reveals (shown in screenshot above)
click Export File
added a .wav extension to the file name
Adding “.wav” to the end of a file name does not automagically make a WAV file. Its contents needs to be formatted correctly. File > Export > Video makes a MP4 by default since that is all that most people need. If you want WAV or something else you need to use the steps above. To be even more accurate, File > Export > VIdeo is exactly the same thing as clicking Export File in the Export panel. So, you could do if you want:
click Export on the main toolbar
click the WAV export preset in the Export panel that #1 reveals (shown in screenshot above)
Oh wow you are a real life saver. I have always used File > Export all along and never realized there was a Export button on the main toolbar! Just redownloaded the latest version and tried, and it works! Thank you very much
