Exported image color is different from the video

Hi,
I’ve compared two export image method in shotcut.

  1. use file/export/frame => The exported image is the same as the video but can only export one frame.
  2. use export_tab/preset/stills/jpg => The exported image is less saturation than video (not quite sure if the sharpness is the same). This one can export series of images.

How to set the options in method 2 to make the exported images match with the video?

Hi @kang
When you export a Frame (File > Export > Frame), Shotcut is likely set to export a PNG image. Make sure you also use the PNG export preset when you export stills.

Here’s a color comparison between images exported using these methods:

  • Track V2: File > Export > Frame (PNG)
  • Track V3: Export panel > still > PNG
  • Track V4: Export panel > still > JPEG

The original video clip is on track V1

While the 2 PNG images are identical to the original video, you can clearly see a color difference in the JPEG image.

Hi,
Thanks for reply.
Actually I did compare the File > Export > Frame (PNG) / JPG and the outputs are the same. And I only use JPG when using export panel because the PNG size is too large.
If I covert the PNG from export/frame to JPG, they are still the same.

Good find. This is now fixed and will likely be available in the next version.

To hack-fix it with the current version, do this:

  • Change Export > Advanced > Video tab > Color range to Full
  • Add these lines to Other tab
    • pix_fmt=yuvj422p
    • colorspace=srgb

It works. Thanks!
