Editing an H.265 video is almost impossible. My workaround is to first export the file to H.264 and then edit the H.264 version.
It works fine; I use it all the time from my GoPro cameras.
Decoding H.265 requires more computer processing resources than H.264. Maybe your computer does not have enough resources to decode H.265 fast enough.
