Editing a mp4 file

Hello.

I have a DVD of all my 8mm Cine films. I have converted it to MP4 file and it loads into Shortcut without any problems. There are a few frames that need to be deleted and I have watched all the utube videos but i can’t get any further than pasting the file into timeline. Could some kind soul please give me some simple instructions on how to proceed.
