What was the dimensions of the source file? Although you selected 720x480 for export, if the source video was smaller than that, it could explain why the export appears as it does.

Hi GordC. I was thinking the Automatic setting might need to be specificly set. All clips are NTSC SD 4:3 clips although the first clip was replaced with a deinterlaced version using HufYUV codec inside an mkv container. All the clips report 720x480, 4:3 aspect and fill Shotcut’s Monitor window properly. It is very early morning here and I will not be on my editing machine for perhaps 8 hours to make changes. Thanks for the suggestion.

Have you tried the custom video mode?

OK, couldn’t sleep. Settings/Video mode/SD NTSC solved the problem. It also now correctly reports BT.601 color space. The Automatic setting must have gotten hosed when I substituted the improved clips for the first two original ones. Same resolution and aspect - what could go wrong?

@Hudson, I have not tried adding a new custom mode. Seems like we have more than enough to pick from now  I tried messing with it in my current project - perhaps it is addressable only in a new project?
