Dragging first clip even slgithly inside second clip on the same track, then retracting that drag, leads to 4 hours of transition

I really cannot show this, but this happening constantly and is lagging my entire system. Can’t Ctrl+Z out of it

@shotcut is there any sort of debugger for shotcut, so that if I trigger this bug, I will be able to find the exact method or if condition it was triggered from?

Edit: I do have experience with Qt creator. Let me see

But exactly which one to download for Linux?

Edit: will try out how to build. let’s see

Please create a better bug report. There is a template with questions you ignored. Your description is unclear:

slightly inside the second clip

Is that creating a transition or overlaying the first clip inside the second? I tested both and could not reproduce it.

retracting that drag

How? Dragging the first clip back out of the second or Undo? I tested both and could not reproduce it.

Of course there is a debugger, but it can be difficult to setup a development build and get into a debugger. It is a hybrid widgets and QML application that makes it difficult. Therefore, it is combination of gdb and qml debgger. I am sorry, but I am going to decline guiding you with it.

That’s creating a transition

Actually, one drags the first clip on the second clip for a few frames, then while keeping it dragged, we retract it.

And suddenly we have a 4-hour transition

This problem happens along with problems such as not being able to drag the final part of the first clip fully to the edge of the second clip.

tried to reproduce the bug; couldn’t; but did get to find a very adjacent bug. If you find that function, it will be the culprit behind the bug I am referring to… most probably

couldn’t Ctrl+Z out of the thing at all

FYI, that is not “dragging the first clip.” I and most people read that as moving a clip, but what you showed is trimming the out point. The difference is big and causes a lot of wasted time trying to reproduce it. Next time, please answer the questions in the bug report template provided when you post to Bug .

Until someone finds and fixes the problem, I suggest to either be more careful, turn off Settings > Timeline > Create Transitions on Overlap, or instead of trying to “retract that drag” by continually dragging things simply delete the transition: select it and press backspace or delete.

Thanks a lot
