I have been happily editing until I must have pressed a button that accidentally changed my timeline settings. Previously, on two crossfaded clips, when I move one clip, it will leave a gap between the crossfade and the clip, like so:
This was an intentional change in a new version and has no option, and no option will be added because 99.9% of the time people do not need a gap between a transition and the clip that is in the transition. This provides another natural way to change the duration of a transition.
There are workarounds, however, for what you want. The simplest and easiest is to first drag the clip to an empty track and then to where you really want it. You probably want to ensure Ripple mode is turned off. The second is to use a sequence of clipboard actions via keyboard shortcuts: Copy C, Lift Backspace, move playhead, Overwrite B. That is the non-rippling version of Cut and Paste.
