Does Shotcut support WebP files?

HI … I am trying to use *.webP files for my video editing.

I am using ShotCut ver 20.04.12.
According to Shotcut Homepage, the part on features it says “Supports popular image formats such as BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG, SVG, TGA, TIFF, WebP as well as image sequences; No import required - native timeline editing”

I encounter error everytime I open a file in WebP format.
I notice there is “**” marked on this format in the feature statement from ShotCut web site …
Is there any specific meaning to this “**” that I need specific action?

Appreciate some advise please.

Shotcut can open WebP images.
WebP animation is not supported yet.
If you want to use WebP animation. use the Text HTML filter, Open a blank template. insert the WebP animation.

Thanks … noted and will work on alternative way or Text HTML way as you suggested.
