Copy from timeline to Playlist

Hello,
Some video clip was split into several parts on the timeline. On each part added a zoom filter, each with different settings. Saved the project and exported the video from the timeline.
Next day opened the project and tried to copy each part from the timeline to the playlist, to save each part separately (with its filter) later from the playlist - not working.
What shell I do to make it work, or is it impossible this way.
Answers will be appreciated.
Thanks
Motim
SC = 21.05.18 on win 10 pro x64,

When you say “to save each part separately (with its filter)”, do you mean export instead ? Or do you expect to save each clip as a .mlt file ?

Anyways, I made this tutorial a while ago that explains how to send clips from the Timeline to the Playlist and export them (as video files).

NOTE: the export method have changed a bit since I made the tutorial, now there are more options to specify how Shotcut will name the exported files.

Great tutorial, @MusicalBox . Just to add - you can just press “C” instead of clicking the “copy” icon… (I know you know that, but it’s just to help others who don’t)…

Thanks !

I know you knew that I know
And, for the purists, Ctrl + C works too.

Furthermore …
You could press C, click on the source tab, then drag the preview screen to the playlist…

Or …
Right-click on the timeline clip and choose : Copy.
Then either click the + button of the Playlist or drag from the Source.

Pretty much covered that then :star_struck:

Hello,
Thanks for all the answers.
By mistake I used “Save” instead of “Export”.
I watched that tutorial-video, that’s what I did on the first time, exported the whole video and saved the project.
Next day loaded the saved project and wanted to export each small section separately as a video clip. Just as in the tutorial, selected a section from the timeline, selected ‘copy’ and tried to push the ‘plus’ button, but it did not work.
So this is what I asked for on the first place.
I hope I made myself clear.

OK, sorry for asking this, but we need to eliminate all possibilities:
Are you sure you’re using the right + button ?

Hello,
Yes. That’s the one.

That’s strange. I tested with 21.05.18 and 21.06.15 and I had no problem.

My advice for now would be to try again after a fresh reboot of your computer.

If it still doesn’t work, please provide a screen capture of your entire Shotcut window, with one clip selected in the timeline and the Properties tab open. And another screen capture with a clip selected and the Playlist tab open.

I doubt we will actually be able to isolate the problem by looking at these screen captures, but we never know.

Hi @motim, as it happens I was working on a project this morning in which I was splitting a long clip into short scenes, then pressing C then + before exporting the playlist as separate clips - and the “playlist +” didn’t work either.
So I selected C on the first clip, pressed the source tab, and dragged the preview screen to the playlist - which worked.
Then after that, the playlist + started working again for all the other clips. Hope this helps.

Hello,
Thanks for the answers.

  1. Tried after a new reboot, it did not work. Attached 2 screenshots as requested.
  2. Now I made a try as on jonray’s answer, it worked, then the plus button started also to respond.
    Isn’t it strange ?
Is there some bug in the program ?
    Thanks
