What is your operating system?
macOS Sonoma
What is your Shotcut version (see Help > About Shotcut)?
24.06.26
Can you repeat the problem? If so, what are the steps?
Start project with doubled-frame-rate. eg: 50fps.
Add an appropriate interlaced video source to the playlist (eg: a 25i video)
Go to Properties → Convert to convert to edit-friendly. Click on Advanced
(I always choose “best/biggest” but I don’t think that’s relevant)
Select “Deinterlace”. Expect this to use bwdif to double-frame-rate ie: 50fps.
Note (it will be the default) that frames/sec is 50.000…)
OK
Observe the process in the Jobs queue: The progress will go up towards 100% and the ETA will go down so it reaches 00:00:00 at the same time. But then… it carries on, with the progress eventually going to 200% (and no ETA shown). And then the conversion is complete.
It looks like the progress/ETA calculation is based on the final converted version having the same number of frames as the source, and is rather surprised to find there are twice as many frames, and doesn’t deal with this surprise very gracefully.
Note: The video conversion itself is fine. This is just about the progress/ETA display.
