It would be great to be able to close/hide the preview area (source/project), just as other panes 
I think it would be relevant in minimal video editing cases, just for merging clips, like “import clips + export video from playlist and done”.
Are you sure that’s a valid purview of an NLE video editor when there are plenty of free and open source lossless video splitters/joiners out there?
I admit I could use a simple free and open source video joiner. I am gonna Google it but you seem to know, so do you recommend one in particular?
Anyway I think it would cost nothing to treat the preview area like other panes, and to be able to hide it or not.
