I just upgraded to 26.9 and I wonder if I’m the only one who finds two new GUI features a step backwards: (i) thicker clip borders, and (ii) rounded edges at the beginning/end of a clip sequence. Both of these combine to give the impression that sequences of clips on different channels have gaps between them.
In my experience the “snap” feature is not infallible. In multi-track project with a lot of video and audio clips it quite often picks the wrong clip to “snap” to. It can be thrown by the start (and sometimes end) of a different clip. Add to this that sometimes clicking to select a clip can be interpreted as a very short drag. Sometimes the only solution to restore a seamless sequence is to zoom in considerably (10x) and carefully drag by hand to correct. Being able to clearly see corner meet corner when doing this is a great first indication that it has worked.
I honestly can’t see what possible need there could be for rounded edges, especially given that they are only displayed when there is a FAR more clear visual indicator - no more clips on this track, next sequence on another. It feels superfluous, “form over function” - and now that clip borders are more than double the previous thickness, it makes it all look as if things are not aligned properly.
Anyway, that’s my gripe
I would also like to say…
THANK YOU for this software. I’m very new to this with a lot to learn, but so far every time I’ve needed a feature it’s been there. Most of my editing revolves around audio - so parametric EQ, audio fades, speed / pitch shifting, even compression - are all great to find as options. Kudos.
