I had an audio track roughly where the red line is. I wanted to change the clip-in point to match the audio tracks neighboring above and below, as well as the video in track V3. While dragging the clip in, shotcut froze up, and then the clip extended way too far to the left, overlapped another track, and the entire audio clip I had selected turned into an audio transition. Most annoyingly, it did not appear in the history list, so it can’t be fixed with a simple ctrl+z

No. The problem appears intermittently. This is the first time it has happened this year, so it’s far from a common occurrence. It has happened a few times before in years prior.
