Can't drag clips from Source to Timeline on Linux with Wayland

What is your operating system?
Linux Ubuntu 22.04

What is your Shotcut version (see Help > About Shotcut)?
Snap installed version 24.11.17, rev. 1648

Can you repeat the problem? If so, what are the steps?
Dragging a clip from Source to Timeline is not working, as it seems to work previously. It does not depend of the content of the tracks in the timeline. Tested also on newly created files and after resetting settings. Adding with “A” key works fine.

I’m surprised nobody reported this yet. Sorry if I’m missing something evident - it’s being a few months of break for me in using Shotcut and I found this issue immediately after installing the most recent version.

It is a bug on wayland; it works when dragged from Playlist for some reason. It is not obvious to me why.

I see. So workaround for me is to use “A” key and then move the clip to intended place on the timeline.

Additional information, maybe unrelated: I’ve noticed that when I start Shotcut from terminal, there are some mentions of missing libraries:

sed: /snap/shotcut/1648/Shotcut.app/lib/libselinux.so.1: no version information available (required by sed)
sed: /snap/shotcut/1648/Shotcut.app/lib/libselinux.so.1: no version information available (required by sed)
libDeckLinkAPI.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

FYI, the snap and AppImage are based on the portable build, which must use an old version of Qt 6.4 for compatibility reasons. That old version does not play well with Wayland.

The workaround is to use Flatpak on Wayland as it uses recent Qt version 6.7. I just tested it on Ubuntu 24.04 with Wayland, and it does not have this problem.

The missing libraries you reported are not important.

There are other shortcuts (and toolbar buttons and menu items) that use the current playhead position.
