Can not open file

I have had the problem of not being able to open files in shotcut. I go into open file, choose a MKV file and it wont let me open it. It says failed to open “File Name”

These files you try to open, do they play normally in the media players on your computer?

What MKV file? I do not have it. All my MKV files open, but I am sure I can probably craft one that does not. Shotcut will never be able to open everything, and that is not a bug. You simply said “open files,” but does that mean every file you tried or only some? You might simply have a bad install.
