Can i change res for all videos at once?

shotcut

Hello. Im playing in 1728x1080 but to bypass YT a little, im upscaling videos to 2k. Now i need to change res for every video because output (final res in export) have still black bars and 1728 instead of 2560 (which final file is).

I have 2560x1440 at start and while export but still need to change res of every video.

Video Mode does that; you cannot change resolution of source. The thing you can change in Properties is aspect ratio, which is different. Do not do that unless you are very advanced.

Also, do not change Export > Video > Resolution. All you need is set Video Mode.

If you get black bars it is because your Video Mode is wrong aspect ratio. To match your videos it should be 1728:1080, which is not 16:9. The 1440p resolution for your aspect ratio is 2304x1440.

Yea, i was talking about aspect ratio, i just called this resolution by mistake because im typing there resolution. Only that way my video is in output resolution without black bars stretched to output resolution.
I’ve tried changing to 2304x1440 without touching aspect ratio on videos on playlist but exported video still have black bars. Looks like i need to change aspect for every video manually. And about 2304x1440, im using 2560x1440 intentionally as most people have tv and desktop in 16:9.

Maybe my message is complicated. I just want to change aspect ratio for every video on timeline at once, but i need to change aspect ratio manually one by one. Is there option to do this? Everything else is good in this method im using.

If you want to ignore what shotcut said and just stretch the videos do this:

  • use a Size, position & rotation filter on the track/timeline (click on the track “head” on the left side near to the name V1, it will add a funnel icon if you added it correctly) and change the Size mode to distort. This will stretch all the videos on that track to the resolution you type into the Size fields (which by default is your project mode, of 2560x1440)

But the proper way is what he said, as long as the height is at least 1440, the width doesn’t matter if it is 2304 or 2560, youtube will accept it as 1440.

I didn’t knew that i can use filters on whole track :open_mouth: It’s awesome. That distort option is what I need and what is working perfectly for me
I will also test 2304x1440 as proper way as Shotcut said.

This program is full of option and it’s still full of things that i don’t know and need to learn. Thank you all for program and for help.

You want to upscale to 1440p to improve the YouTube quality, but distorting the aspect ratio is much worse. I recommend to let it pad, crop, or you can try the Elastic Scale video filter (distort the sides, not the center). The pad option includes uploading source aspect ratio instead of 16:9. Some people may watch it on their phone, and most phones are also not 16:9 even when turned horizontal.
