First off can I congratulate those who put in all the hard work to produce this editor for free. it is absolutely brilliant!
I do have a problem however and will not be surprised if there is a simple answer as i am a complete newb to both Shotcut and Macbook.
I have a Macbook Air 2017 that is running both Win 10 and Mac OS latest versions. I have downloaded a copy of Shotcut to both and have been hapilly editing in windows for a month (I love it).
But for the first time I tried it on Mac OS and hey presto no sound output.
The audio meter moves and shows sound and edited output has good sound when using any other player on the same Macbook.
Clips are straight from Mac (mainly from my Iphone photo album, but I have tried straight from camera and web. Audio track sound icon is not crossed out.
Please can anyone assist as I want to transfer to Mac for editing.
What is your Shotcut version on the Mac, and what is the macOS version? A sound output library was upgraded in the newest version 20.06.28. Sound is working for me on both older and current version on macOS 10.14 and 10.15. So, I suggest to try older version 20.04 if you are using 20.06 or upgrade if using older.
Thank you for your quick response

I am running Bootcamp on a partitioned disk with a copy of Shotcut on each partition.
one for windows 10 and one for macOs.
Windows version is the latest and has always run without trouble but I have never had sound from the MacOs version which was a 2019 version of Shotcut but today I updated to the Latest version but the problem remains.
Sound bars move, when playing timeline and original file but no sound is heard on either inbuilt macbook speakers or external speakers exported timeline plays sound perfectly in VLC media player.
I’m sorry to bother you with this but it is really frustrating me and I’d like to do my editing on macbook eventually when i have learnt to use it properly.
I have searched the Internet and it appears that I am not the first to encounter this problem, but unfortunate none of the sites seems to have an answer to the query.
Thank you
Nigel
Check the obvious: is the Shotcut player muted?
OMG Now I feel like a right diki doo dah!
You got it in one, that was it all along.
I’m both embarrassed and delighted at the same time!
Thank you and sorry to have wasted your time.
I’m off to hide in obscurity.
