Brightness or color correction only part of clip

How to adjust brightness in only part of a clip? Ex: beginning of clip foreground is dark due to window in shot. When panning off, brightness adjusts okay. How to bring up the brightness only on the beginning? Still learning.

There are a few ways of doing that.

Add a brightness filter to the video clip. Use filter trimming to adjust the brightness to affect a portion of the clip.

Trimming Filters

Trimming a filter means you can choose when the filter effect starts and ends independent of the clip’s starting and ending time. Obviously, if the filter is applied to a clip, it must still be within the clip’s time frame. If the filter is applied to a track, however, it can be truly independent.
