I think an excellent addition would be a “Blank Track” where it’s like an image with full alpha, but you don’t actually have to import an image. Good for text or other things on top of the video.
Why? An empty video track is exactly like that. You do not need to add a transparent image. If you want a transparent clip on it, then add it using Open Other > Color. This is similar to people asking for a text track. Just add a video track and put a text clip on it. Rename the track if you want. Then, later, you can potentially do other things with the track besides the original intent.
